New road from Gunjan Chowk to Kalyaninagar provides a fresh and efficient travel option for Pune commuters

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is in the process of constructing a riverside road with the aim of alleviating traffic congestion at Shastri Nagar Chowk and Wadgaonsheri Chowk along Ahmednagar Road. This road will run parallel to the Pune Metro line, extending from Gunjan Chowk to Kalyani Nagar. The Vanaz-Ramwadi metro route traverses through Yerawada, Kalyaninagar, and Ramwadi, following the course of the Mula Mutha river.

Spanning approximately 30 meters in width, this road will traverse Gunjan Chowk, and significant progress has been made on the 110-meter stretch of the project.

Commuters traveling from Pune Station, Khadki, and Vishrantwadi currently utilize Ahmednagar Road to reach destinations such as Kalyaninagar and Wadgaonsheri. This has led to frequent traffic congestion at Shastri Nagar Chowk and Wadgaonsheri Chowk. The development of the new road will provide a direct route for vehicles, enabling them to travel directly from Gunjan Chowk to Kalyaninagar and subsequently to Wadgaonsheri through the riverbed road.

Once the Gunjan Chowk to Kalyaninagar section is completed, residents of Pune will have a direct route from Gunjan Chowk to Wadgaonsheri. In the future, the Pune metro line is anticipated to connect the route from Gunjan Chowk to the Shivane route, creating a new transportation route that links Kalyaninagar, Wadgaonsheri, Mundhwa, and Hadapsar.
